A family-owned real estate firm dedicated to providing quality housing and commercial spaces for rent and for sale in Georgetown, South Carolina, at fair market prices.

MelBar Holdings was established through the loving partnership of husband and wife team, Melvin Huell, Sr. and Barbara Huell. Together, in 1986, they purchased their first rental property in Georgetown, South Carolina - a combination residential and commercial space in the historic district.

Shortly after this, Melvin developed HomeWorks, LLC, a contracting company, to complete the renovation of this and subsequent MelBar properties. The exceptionally gifted draughtsman, Leo Reed, was an integral part of the HomeWorks team and many of MelBar’s properties bear the stamp of his signature creative and efficient building designs.

Barbara’s and Melvin’s guiding principles were and remain to:

1. Nurture the growth and advancement of talented local contract workers - particularly those who might not otherwise find work due to discrimination or other factors

2. Build quality units using solid, durable materials that are finished well

3. Establish lower rental prices which afford less privileged Georgetown residents access to quality living spaces.

Their commitment became MelBar's ethos and has driven the firm's purchase and development of more than 35 houses and commercial spaces for more than three decades, helping many Georgetown residents find a place that they love to call home.
